Key takeaways
- The call lasts 30 minutes, costs nothing and commits you to nothing. You sign nothing.
- You get a written scope with a fixed price after the call. We never quote a number out loud during the call itself.
- Founder Sufyan Adil leads every Meant call himself. No salesperson or account manager takes it over.
- Bring your current site, a rough budget range and two or three reference brands. Your quote will be sharper for it.
- Calls run Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, scheduled in your own time zone, whether you're in London, Lagos or Singapore.
What Happens on the Free 30-Minute Strategy Call
The free 30 minute strategy call is where Meant works out three things: what you actually need built, whether we are the right team to build it, and what it should cost. It takes 30 minutes. It costs nothing. You sign nothing. Afterwards we write up a scope with a fixed price and send it to you. That is the whole arrangement.
Most first calls with an agency are a pitch with a calendar invite attached. This one is a working session. We ask about the business, the problem and the numbers, then tell you plainly what we would build and what we would leave alone.
Who you'll actually talk to
You talk to Sufyan Adil, who founded Meant and leads every engagement. He is not a business development manager who passes notes to a developer you never meet. He shapes the scope, and the same senior team then designs it, builds it and, if you want, markets it afterwards.
That matters on the call. Ask whether your catalogue can run on headless Shopify, or whether a WhatsApp flow can write back to your CRM, and the answer comes straight back. Nobody has to "check with the team". We work in English, Arabic or Greek, so the call can run in whichever suits you.
What the call is not
It is not a free consultation call that ends in a hard close. It is not an audit with a report attached, and it is not a price quoted from memory. If what you need is a better theme or a freelancer for a week, we will say so. Some calls end with us suggesting you don't hire a studio at all. That is a fine outcome.
What to Bring Before You Book
You get more out of the 30 minutes if a few things are ready. None of it needs polishing. A link and a sentence each is enough. This is what we ask for before the call, from your side of the table.
If you are outside the UAE, which most of our clients are, it is also worth reading how a remote project runs across time zones before the call. It covers how we schedule, how we share work and what a normal week looks like.
Your current site or product, if you have one
Send the URL. If it is behind a login, bring a screen recording or be ready to share your screen. We look at speed, structure and what the site is trying to say. For a Shopify store, tell us your theme and the apps you depend on. For an app or internal tool, tell us what it runs on and where it breaks.
If you have nothing yet, that is normal too. Bring the one sentence that describes what the business does. If you can't write that sentence yet, say so. Positioning is often the first thing to fix.
A rough budget range
We don't need a number to the dollar. A range is enough. Projects start at $2,000. Builds are fixed scope and fixed price, and automation and marketing run as monthly retainers you can stop. A range lets us shape a scope that fits it, instead of designing the ideal version and then cutting it in half.
If you run a registered non-profit or charity, tell us. We build websites for registered non-profits at no charge, with the same team and the same standard.
Two or three competitors or sites you admire
Pick two or three sites: your competitors, or brands in other categories whose sites you'd be happy to have. Tell us one thing you like about each. "The product pages load instantly" is more useful than "it feels premium". References give us a shared vocabulary in minutes. Without them we spend the call trading adjectives.
The Call, Minute by Minute
Here is what happens on a discovery call with us, in order. We keep to the clock because you have a business to run. If something needs longer, we book a second call rather than let the first one run over.
| Minutes | What we cover | What you get from it |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 5 | The business in one sentence, who buys, and why now | A shared starting point, and a check that the sentence holds up |
| 5 to 12 | The current site, store or process, and where it loses money or time | A plain diagnosis: speed, conversion, positioning, or manual admin |
| 12 to 20 | What we would build, what we would leave alone, and the stack | A first view of scope: Next.js site, headless Shopify, app, or automation |
| 20 to 26 | Budget range, timing, and who on your side signs off | A scope sized to your range, not to our wish list |
| 26 to 30 | Next steps, and what goes into the written scope | Clarity on what arrives in writing, with nothing to sign |
A few notes on the agenda.
The first five minutes do more work than they look. If the business can't be explained in one clear sentence, a new website won't fix that, and it is better to find out before anything gets built.
Minutes 5 to 12 are where we look at your traffic, your conversion, your checkout or the hours your team loses each week. We only talk about numbers that connect to revenue or time. Follower counts and page views on their own don't count.
Minutes 12 to 20 are where we talk stack. We build custom code only: Next.js, React, headless Shopify on Hydrogen, Supabase, Vercel, the WhatsApp Business API. No templates. We explain any term in one line. Headless, for example, means the storefront is built as its own fast website while Shopify keeps running checkout and the back office.
What We Won't Do on the Call
The usual worry about a free consultation call is simple: you'll be pushed to sign, or handed a figure with nothing behind it. Neither happens.
No pressure to sign anything
There is no contract on the call, no "this price is only valid today" and no follow-up sequence of chasing emails. You get the written scope afterwards and decide in your own time. If you go quiet, that is your answer and we respect it.
The same applies after you sign. Automation and marketing retainers run month to month and you can stop them. We never take a percentage of your ad spend. Ad accounts are opened in your name, so if you leave, the account and its history leave with you.
No price without a written scope first
We don't quote on the call. A number said out loud before anyone has written down what is included is a guess. Guesses become arguments three weeks into a build. We would rather take the time to write the scope properly and put one fixed price against it, so you can compare it line by line with any other quote you have.
What Arrives in Writing Afterward
After the call we send a written document. It is not a deck and not a brochure. It sets out exactly what we would build and what it costs.
The written scope and fixed price
The scope covers what is included, what is explicitly not included, the stack we would use, the main milestones and a single fixed price. There is no hourly billing and no "estimated hours" line that grows later. If the work is a retainer, such as an automation build with ongoing running or a Google and Meta campaign, the document shows the monthly fee and what it covers.
Our pricing page shows how a fixed price, quoted after this first call, is put together. If you want to see the contract side, we have written up what's inside a fixed-price build contract, including how changes to scope are handled once work has started.
What happens if you say yes, or not yet
If you say yes, we confirm the scope, agree the start, and the same people from the call begin the work. There is no handover to a delivery team you haven't met.
If you say not yet, keep the scope. It is yours. Use it to plan, to budget for later, or to brief someone else. Plenty of founders book a discovery call months before they are ready to build, simply to find out what the work actually involves.
How the Call Differs for Ecommerce, Automation or UAE Setup Projects
The agenda above holds for every call. What changes is the ground covered between minutes 5 and 20. Here is what we add for the three project types we see most. You can also see the full list of services we build and run.
Headless Shopify and ecommerce rebuilds
For a store, we look at the current theme, the app stack, the size of the catalogue and what checkout does today. Checkout normally stays in Shopify. The question is whether the storefront should become custom software or whether a cleaner theme would do. We say honestly if the theme would do.
We also look at speed on mobile. Core Web Vitals are Google's measures of how fast and stable a page feels to a real visitor. A slow hero image or a pile of app scripts often costs more sales than the design does. If you are migrating from a theme, bring your list of apps and anything custom a developer has added over the years.
AI agents and WhatsApp automation
For automation, we ask you to walk through one manual task end to end. That could be a lead arriving, a quote going out, an invoice being raised, or a customer asking about an order on WhatsApp. We note who touches it, which tools are involved, and how often it happens each week.
From that we can tell whether the job needs Make or n8n, a custom API integration, the WhatsApp Business API, an AI agent, or all four. We also cover CRM sync, which means keeping your CRM updated automatically so nobody retypes the same customer twice. And we ask what should happen when the machine gets it wrong, because something always needs a human fallback.
UAE company setup alongside the build
For founders entering Dubai, the call covers the business activity you plan to license, whether a free zone or mainland setup suits it, and what you need in place before launch. We handle entity formation and licensing alongside the positioning, the site and the launch, so the brand and the company get built together rather than one after the other.
Expect questions about ownership, where the team will sit and when you want to trade. If you need a bilingual EN/AR site at launch, say so on the call. It changes the build from the first wireframe.
Frequently asked questions
Is the free 30-minute call really free, with no obligation to buy anything?
Yes. The call costs nothing and you sign nothing on it or afterwards unless you choose to. You receive a written scope with a fixed price, and what you do with it is up to you.
What if I'm not ready to commit to a full project yet?
Book the call anyway. A written scope is useful for planning and budgeting even if the build is months away. Some founders also start with a smaller fixed-price piece, such as a landing page or a single automation, before committing to more.
Can I bring a co-founder or a colleague onto the call?
Yes, and it often helps. Bring whoever signs off on budget, and whoever knows the current site or process best. Tell us who is joining when you book so the time is planned for them.
How soon after the call do I receive the fixed-price quote in writing?
It comes after the call, once we have written the scope properly. A simple landing page takes less time to scope than a SaaS platform or a full store migration. We would rather send a scope that is right than one that is quick.
Do you sign an NDA before discussing the project in detail?
If your project needs one, ask when you book and we will sort it out before you share anything sensitive. For most first calls you don't need to reveal confidential detail to get a useful scope. The business model, the problem and a budget range are usually enough.
What time zones can the call be scheduled in?
Calls run Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, scheduled in your time zone. Most of our clients are outside the UAE, in cities such as London, Athens, Riyadh, Lagos, Singapore and New York, so working across time zones is normal for us.
